I remember this one well from school assemblies and the church choir I sang in when I was little, although of course I tended not to think of it quite so sarcastically as today…

It was written to another tune which is now eclipsed by Vaughan Williams’.
At school assembly 40 years ago as an atheist I loved the hymns for their musicalty but hated the prayers. (Mandatory prayer for nonbelievers is wrong.) In view of the vapidity of most modern worship songs, my views are largely reversed today.
