I’m struggling to get into the festive spirit this year, but this should help. Here’s a Christmas song that even Ebenezer Scrooge himself would find hard to resist. It’s the old carol “O Holy Night” sung in magnificent style (and in Swedish) by the wondrous Swedish tenor, Jussi Björling.

Thank you so much for this post–this is my favorite of all Christmas hymns, and I’ve been collecting various versions of it for years. This is a new, and incredibly heart-rending version.

oh dear, this nearly made me vomit my breakfast. They turned into a cut-rate Puccini aria on top of a bad imitation of the end of Die Walkure. Jussi certainly yells his head off on the high notes, I’ll give you that, but I’d rather listen to a French baritone…
