In Memoriam Jocky Wilson

So. Farewell then
Jocky Wilson.

You finished
On Sixty-Two.

I would have gone
Triple Ten
Double Sixteen.

But it would be
More like you
To opt for
Twelve
Bull.

I used to play darts for Magdalene way back when.

I found that doing a mock Sid Waddell commentary when the opposition were at the oche was a remarkably effective way of putting them off.

My favourite quote of his: “…the pendulum is swinging backwards and forwards, like a metronome.”

  3. I thought I was being original when I wrote a rhyme and referenced Not the Nine O Clock news in my post – just goes to show…!

    So farewell then

    Jocky

I know you will look cocky

    As you travel to

    The Oche

    In the Sky…

There was a great moment on Top of the Pops back in the day, when due to a mixup his photo appeared as the backdrop to Dexy’s Midnight Runners’ performance of ‘Jackie Wilson Said’, a song about the 60s soul singer!
