Three Astronomy Jobs at Sussex
Following hard on the heels of Tuesday’s news, here is an announcement of three (new, permanent) jobs in Astronomy at the University of Sussex. Full details are in the above link, but the gist is that applications are invited for 3 permanent, full-time faculty positions within the Astronomy Centre.
The 8 existing faculty have research interests that span the observation, modelling/simulation and theory of extragalactic astronomy and cosmology. We are seeking talented and ambitious colleagues whose research interests complement and extend our current activity.
This advertisement will in due course appear elsewhere, e.g. in the November AAS Jobs Register.
I’ll be interested to see how many people apply as a result of seeing this here announcement, so if you do fill in an application form be sure to answer the question “Where did you see this post advertised” with “In the Dark”!

did prof. dr. a. liddle really get paid so much that he could be traded for 2 lecs + 1 reader/s-lec?
i wonder what you can trade a dean in against (should they ever wish to)?
anyway – congrats on the move (although i note you are moving even further away from the proper north).

These are not just Prof. Liddle’s replacement – he’s irreplaceable anyway – but also include the initial astronomy component of a larger strategic investment in MPS.

He is moving to the University of Edinburgh.

It is also probably the case that salaries are rather lower in the Midlands.

wordpress appears to be targeting you (me?) with delia adverts for waitrose…
i wonder if they think that will be the new demographic for your blog in the far south (waitrose on every corner, just like aldi up here)?

Indeed. In fact I think Brighton could fairly accurately be described as The South.

I don’t get any adverts at all. I didn’t know there were adverts on this site. Except for the one I posted today, for Elemensus.
