Silly missionaries. The first church was 100% Jewish.
I’m a Christian and when the Jehovah’s Witnesses or the Mormons call I invite them in for a chat, although it can be tricky because the Mormons regard even tea as too strong a drink. Both believe that Jesus of Nazareth was very high but not quite divine – although they won’t tell you that at first – whereas Christians believe he is divine (meaning divine in the sense of the god spoken of in the Jewish scriptures). They both claim to accept the Bible, though, and I reckon I can prove that it sees Jesus as divine. So off we go. They’ve been quite well rehearsed with the common Christian counter-arguments so it’s a bit like a game of chess in which both sides have some knowledge of set openings.
