The Hubble Ultra Deep Field in Three Dimensions
I came across this video about the Hubble Ultra Deep Field (which I have blogged about before) and thought you might enjoy it. I think it’s fairly self-explanatory too!

Hmmm, hate to be a party pooper, but isn’t that just a hacked together sequence of original movie material from STScI, ST-ECF, and others out there on the web, including the 3D part itself towards the end, which comes from a 2004 STScI video made based on redshifts in the HUDF at http://hubblesite.org/newscenter/archive/releases/2004/28/video/b)?
I mean, yes, the makers (DeepAstronomy.com) acknowledge that, but the
narration they have (he has, actually) added has the occasional dodgy moment: “humanity’s most powerful telescope”, “most important image ever taken”, “most powerful telescope ever built by human beings”, and “there was a real risk that the images returned would be as black as the piece of space at which is was being pointed”. Pity, because much of the rest of it is ok …
Sorry, nitpicking over.
