    I wonder if that’s why we started building floating bridges around here instead…

    The Albert Bridge between Battersea and Chelsea, London, has signs at either end that read,

    “All troops must break step when marching over this bridge”.

      Which presumably pre-dated the Tacoma problem.

      Yes, that’s right. The sign on the Albert Bridge looks old, and perhaps dates from the time of the construction of the bridge. It certainly predates the original Tacoma Narrows Bridge by decades.
