  1. Shouldn’t that be “Mane Courses”

I tried that menu last night. I’ve still got a bit between my teeth today.

You don’t want to be saddled with the same old choices do you?

  4. I think it’s time to rein it in? Perhaps you should try a different tack?

Actually it’s illegal to sell horse meat for human consumption in the UK. I’m not sure why, as I’ve eaten horse in Italy and France and very much enjoyed it. The real issue, however, is that the quality control of the meat that is finding its way into supermarket products is clearly failing. It might not just be horse, but horse that’s not fit to eat. And who can be confidence that the meat that isn’t horse is not contaminated?

There are some strange laws. In New South Wales during my time in Sydney it was illegal to sell kangaroo meat for human consumption – I tried it in the Northern Territory and it was delicious (like venison) and of course well adapted to being farmed in the Australian environment. But every tin of dogfood in the NSW supermarkets contained it.

I shouted myself hoarse trying to get the waiter’s attention.
