Physics World Plug
Just time for a quick bit of shameless self-promotion. This month’s Edition of Physics World has an article by me as cover feature. Here’s a sneak preview, but to read the whole thing you’ll have to rush out and buy a copy! Alternatively, you can find it online here.

Peter: I spotted that. By the way, is it supposed to be freely available online here?

Hmm. I’m not sure if that’s a legal copy or not. I’ll have to ask the IOP if there’s a copyright issue..

Apparently it’s OK. In fact you can get the whole article here:

That’s a wonderful image. Could you post it in a higher resolution? 🙂

If you’re referring to Planck’s CMB temperature anistropy image (i.e. the technicolour rugby ball), it’s available in a variety of resolutions from us at ESA:

Congratulations! I don’t know where you find the time to do all these things.
It would be churlish to note the issue of open access. As Mark mentions, the image (and much other Planck material) is freely available from ESA, and other web sites.

Physics World isn’t really an academic journal so I don’t think the usual arguments about open access apply here, any more than they would to, e.g., New Scientist.

Very interesting new movie:

Interesting conversation you’re having with yourself here, Phillip 🙂
