Temperatures in US south west are reaching 49C at the moment, which is very dangerous. Fortunately the area is desert so the humidity is low, but this is still a dangerous temperature — prolonged periods where the wet bulb temperature is above 35 (e.g. 50% humidity and about 45C) are fatal to humans and other animals because the body actually takes up heat from the environment under these conditions and overheats. This will be a potential problem in future years. So visit a pool or take a dip in the ocean and keep cool.
