Advanced Electromagnetism Theory Lecture Notes

As a member of academic staff who teaches in a publicly funded University, and in the spirit of the Open Access movement, I think that as far as possible I should put the content of my lectures in the public domain. I’ve decided today to do this with my final-year module on Advanced Electromagnetism. Here you go.

Any questions?

If you think that isn’t much for the 17 lectures I’ve given so far, just look at what I started with:

I reckon I’ve made quite a lot of progress!

Reminded of the story about the student who raised his hand during a lecture by Dirac and said “I have a question — I do not understand what you just did there” and Dirac supposedly replied “That is not a question, it is a comment” and continued speaking.

It’s even shorter in Clifford algebra.

  4. Surprised you still use chalk and blackboard and are allowed to do so!

Do you also give the students a set of lecture notes or just give them time to copy from the board?
